What is your design background?
I graduated with a first class honours degree in textile design from UWE Bristol and an MA in Design Products from The Royal College of Art in London. Since graduating in 2011 I have been lucky enough to work globally on a variety of different design projects; lighting schemes for private homes in Dubai, lecturing at university in London, re-designing handicrafts in Brazil and reimagining crafts in Romania.
What industry experience do you have?
In 2013 I founded Sarah Colson Ltd. A design studio specialising in the small scale production of hand blown glass lighting. Distributed globally, my designs have been retailed by the likes of The Conran shop, West Elm and Debenhams. In 2015 I was presented with an Elle decoration award for best newcomer to lighting. A proud moment to say the least!
What sort of projects do you enjoy most?
As the lighting business continues to thrive in the UK I choose to relocate to Chamonix, not only for the mountain lifestyle but for the access to materials and manufacturing Europe can provide. I now enjoy working as an interior designer between Chamonix and the UK, producing a wide variety of interior design projects for a global client base. Each project is different from the next and I encourage my clients to understand their own aesthetic so I can design their visions of beauty.
